About the National Appeals Division

Welcome to the website for the National Appeals Division (NAD).

We are an independent office that reports directly to the Secretary of Agriculture. Our job is to give you an opportunity to file an appeal and receive a hearing, on the telephone or face-to-face in your State, if you disagree with a program decision from one of these agencies: Farm Service Agency; Rural Housing Service; Risk Management Agency; Natural Resource Conservation Service; Rural Business Cooperative Service; or the Rural Utilities Service.

My hope is that this website provides you with a user-friendly way to access information about how to file an appeal and search for a previous NAD decision; perhaps an earlier decision about similar issues you may be facing now. In considering whether you should file an appeal about a decision you disagree with, keep in mind you have two choices: you can appeal and obtain an independent hearing, or you can live with it.

Filing an appeal is easy, but remember you must file an appeal within specified time limits. These time limits are explained in other parts of this website.

If you have any suggestions about how we can make this site more helpful, please feel free to fax, phone, or send an email to nadinfo@usda.gov.
